A meeting of European Prosecutors General was held in St. Petersburg - PHOTO

On July 6-9, the Council of Europe, the International Association of Prosecutors and the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation organized a meeting of European Prosecutors General on "The role of a prosecutor in the protection of the rights of an individual and public interest in light of the requirements of the European Court of Human Rights."

E-huquq.az reports citing the website of the Council of Europe that, the meeting was held in St. Petersburg, at the Residence of the President of the Russian Federation (Konstantinovsky Palace).
The opening ceremony of the high-level event began with a video conference speech by Russian President Vladimir Putin.Then Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, President of the International Association of Prosecutors (South Korean Prosecutor General) Cheol-Kyu Hwang, Director General of the Council of Europe for Human Rights and Rule of Law, Christos Giakoumopoulos, President of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) Ramin Garagurbanli, President of the Advisory Council of European Prosecutors Antonio Noquera, and Vice-President of the Venice Commission Bazy-Malaurie made opening speeches.

As a result of the successful foreign and effective personnel policy of the President, it is gratifying that the opening ceremony of the event was held by the President of the Russian Federation, Azerbaijani judge Ramin Garagurbanli as head of CEPEJ, along with other international organizations.

At the meeting with the participation of prosecutors general, the status and powers of the prosecutor's office, the recommendations of the Council of Europe in this sphere, in particular the documents of the Committee of Ministers "The role of prosecutors in the criminal justice system" Rec (2000) 19 and "The role of prosecutors outside the criminal justice system" Rec (2012) 11 and the application situation of these documents in the member states was discussed.

A delegation led by the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev also attended the meeting.The Prosecutor General's speeches on innovations in the prosecutor's office were met with great interest, as well as the active participation of other members of the delegation and the successful reforms in the prosecutor's office were praised.
