Azerbaijani person, collaborating with Armenian special services, arrested - SSS

The State Security Service continues comprehensive counter-intelligence measures to detect and prevent threats to the national security interests of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the intelligence-disruptive activities of foreign special services, State Security Service (SSS) told e-huquq.az.

Mammadov Emil Ramiz, a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, born in 1981, was suspected of high treason on the launched criminal case.

According to the conducted investigation, reasonable doubts have been detected on Emil Mammadov's meeting with employees of Armenian special services in the territory of the third country and involving in secret collaboration at the exchange of financial interest to help them by implementing tasks of foreign special services to damage sovereignty, territorial integrity, state security, and defense capability of the Republic of Azerbaijan, getting instruction on collection of information, which can be used against state security of the Republic of Azerbaijan, acting in the direction of instructed tasks, being instructed on following requirements of confidentiality and conspiracy of relations with the representatives of the Armenian special services.

Emil Mammadov was charged under Article 274 (treason) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan and arrested according to the court decision.

The investigation is underway.
