Gastroenterologist Emin Mammadov, a specialist-expert at the Ministry of Health, has said the symptoms recently common among population are most likely caused by rotovirus, e-huquq.az informs.
According to him, symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and high temperature, which are more common among people in Baku today, are not cases of food poisoning at all: "We cannot examine all those who come to us with such complaints, because it requires a lot of money. Those symptoms are most likely a viral infection, rotavirus. We advise patients to avoid antibiotic therapy in this case. While having the symptoms mentioned above, I recommend drinking plenty of fluids and stopping consuming dairy products and caffeine, as stabilization of that infection takes about 5-7 days. If there is no improvement after that period, consult a doctor."
