The International Association of Russian-Speaking Lawyers has condemned the arrest of Russian blogger Kirill Fyodorov in Latvia.

In a statement released by the Association said that Fyodorov's arrest violated the European Convention on Human Rights, e-huquq.az reports.

Kirill Fyodorov, who lives in Riga, runs the Russian-language YouTube and Telegram channels dedicated to military history. After the start of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine, K. Fyodorov did not hide the objective events in Ukraine, but objectively covered the military operations. Therefore, the Latvian Security Service accused the blogger of treason and incitement to hatred. But it is not Fyodorov who incites national hatred on ethnic and national origin, it is these actions of the government. Latvia has once again violated international human rights, especially freedom of speech.

We believe that the Latvian authorities should immediately release Kirill Fyodorov and stop persecuting people for their differences, on the contrary, it must take measures to prevent the glorification of Nazism.

We consider it right that the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin, opened a criminal case under Article 299 of the Criminal Code, "On the prosecution of an innocent person."

We ask that immediate action be taken against the officials responsible for the illegal arrest of K. Fyodorov," it was said in the statement.
