UN says nearly 5 million refugees fled Ukraine since start of hostilities

Over 4.9 million people have left Ukraine since the start of war by Russia, as evidenced by the data from the portal of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

According to them, more than 2.7 million people crossed the border with Poland, over 743,000 Ukrainians moved to Romania, about 522,400 moved to Russia. More than 461,000 refugees from Ukraine settled in Hungary, and 423,800 moved to Slovakia.

In addition, according to UN estimates, about 23,400 people left Ukraine for Belarus.
