Turkish FM announces reason for distancing positions of Ukraine and Russia

"After the Istanbul meeting, we were hopeful for reaching a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, because positions of the sides have come close," said Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu in his interview with Haber Global, e-huquq.az reports.

"But the sides moved away from the table after arrival of footages from massacres in Irpin, Bucha, it was a breakpoint in negotiations," added Cavusoglu.

Turkish FM has stressed that Turkiye is one of the countries, which provides the strongest support to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, on the other side, Ankara has close relations with both sides - Ukraine and Russia: "We are trying to use it to reach a ceasefire."
