“Forming video calls to prisoners is an estimable step” - Ramin Gurbanov

As reported, amendments are proposed to the legislation of Azerbaijan on the organization of video calls for prisoners. It was stated in the annual report of the Azerbaijani Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) for 2020.

Ramin Gurbanov, President of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice of the Council of Europe (CEPEJ), praised the proposal and told E-huquq.az about it.

“As you know, some criminal proceedings are currently conducted online. In my opinion, it would be a good practice for prisoners to meet with their families and relatives online. In this regard, I welcome the offer to hold video calls. In general, in international practice, video calls are used by prisoners to communicate with their relatives” R.Gurbanov said.
