"Legal aid should be provided to citizens at the expense of the state in civil cases".

The statement was made by Ramin Garagurbanli, President of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice of the Council of Europe (CEPEJ) and Judge of the Baku Court of Appeal, e-huquq.az states.

"In many European countries, the state also provides legal aid to citizens in civil cases. In Azerbaijan, it is intended only for criminal cases. I think this issue should be considered. Because there are low-income families in need of legal aid at the expense of the state in the civil field. In civil cases of low-income families, they may be provided with a lawyer within the framework of free legal aid at the expense of the state. In this regard, standards must be set to prevent abuse by the people," - Garagurbanli said.
