The Ombudsman met with the Chairman of the Bar Association

The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva met with the Chairman of the Bar Association of the Republic of Azerbaijan Anar Bagirov and representatives of the Bar Association.

Welcoming the guests, S.Aliyeva gave detailed information about the activities of the organization, e-huquq.az reports.

It was brought to the attention of the guests by Sabina Aliyeva on during the pandemic and martial law, the Ombudsman's Office continued its work to ensure the rights of the population, especially vulnerable groups, successful cooperation with lawyers in this field, support for lawyers, proposals to the relevant authorities.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Anar Bagirov briefed on the work done in the field of advocacy. He noted that as a result of legal reforms and the work done by the Bar Association, the institution of advocacy has entered a new stage of development. A.Baghirov said on growing interest in advocacy in our country, as a result of transparent examinations, the number of lawyers has exceeded two thousand, and the number of 39 active bar associations has exceeded 100, and as a result of judicial and legal reforms and the work done by the Bar Association in recent years.

The event also discussed the provision of professional legal assistance to citizens in cooperation with the Legal Aid and Training Center (Center) established by the Bar Association in recent years, the organization of joint training programs to further improve the professionalism of lawyers and stressed the importance of effective cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by members of the Presidium Sima Yagubova, Mukhtar Mustafayev, Chief of Staff of the Bar Association Bayram Orujov, Director of the Center and Chairman of the Bar Disciplinary Commission Shahmar Mammadov and exchanged views on future cooperation between the agencies.
