Human rights defender Rasul Jafarov was admitted as a member of the Bar Association

As reported, the names of the candidates who successfully passed the oral interview have been announced.

According to the e-huquq.az, Rasul Jafarov, a functionary of the REAL party, chairman of the Human Rights Club and a well-known human rights activist, was admitted to the bar.

It should be noted that R.Jafarov holds a bachelor's degree in International Law from Western University in 2004, and a master's degree in European Law from the same university in 2004-2006. In 2018, R. Jafarov holds a master's degree in Constitutional Law from the Central European University (CEU).
On August 2, 2014 R. Jafarov was imprisoned. In 2015, a court sentenced him to six and a half years’ imprisonment for illegal entrepreneurship, tax evasion and abuse of office. He was released in March 2016 by a pardon decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev.

In April 2020, the Plenum of the Supreme Court acquitted Rasul Jafarov in connection with the newly discovered cases, terminated the proceedings on acquittal for not proving his guilt, and awarded compensation of 57,400 manat for moral damages.
