Heydar Aliyev, who was elected a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the USSR in December 1982, as the first deputy chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers, resolutely protected the interests of Azerbaijan, took important steps for the well-being and prosperity of our people and the development of our republic, and rendered historical services.

The Nakhchivan period of the wise statesman's activity is also rich in significant events as one of the most important pages in the history of our modern statehood.
