The presentation of the book "Collection of Decisions of the European Court of Human Rights on Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Stateless Persons", translated and published with the financial support of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, was held on January 18.
According to e-huquq.az, the edition, published by the Union of Judges of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Eurasian Bar Association, is mainly intended for use by judges, lawyers and advocates. Materials published in small numbers (initially 1,000 copies) and planned to be distributed free of charge, law enforcement officers, students and representatives of non-governmental organizations will also be able to benefit.
The moderator of the event, member of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, Chairman of the Board of the Mediation Council Nadir Adilov welcomed the participants and thanked all the organizations that contributed to the preparation of the book: "The protection of human rights takes an important place in the system of reforms carried out by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and the protection of human rights is always in the center of attention," N. Adilov noted.
Speaking at the event, Guido Ambroso, Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Azerbaijan, said that the UN Refugee Agency supports Azerbaijani government and relevant agencies 1992 to protect and assist refugees, asylum seekers, IDPs and stateless persons in Azerbaijan in accordance with international standards since: "The decisions of the European Court of Human Rights on refugees, asylum seekers and stateless persons are an important part of international standards, and we hope that the publication of the decisions of the European Court will assist Azerbaijani judges and courts to make the right decisions regarding the granting of asylum to persons in need of international protection, the issuance of documents and citizenship to stateless persons or those whose citizenship is at risk."
Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan Chingiz Asgarov noted that the reforms carried out under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev in the judicial system, as in all spheres of life, are showing positive results: "The establishment of administrative courts in Azerbaijan, the inclusion of progressive provisions in the procedural legislation, the improvement of the court apparatus also accelerate the positive changes. The wider application of the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights by the courts will serve to ensure human rights in the country, improve the functioning of government agencies and increase the prestige of the judiciary."
Aynur Sabitova, Head of the Human Rights and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan, said that training programs on different topics could be launched with the participation of experts from the High Commissioner for Refugees: "At the same time, we can cooperate in the field of sustainable awareness projects, preparing the other awareness materials, publication and dissemination of other educational materials, the organization of experimental trips and other directions. Current edition is a manifestation of effective cooperation, as well as a valuable contribution to human rights education and awareness-raising, and I think it will be of great interest to the public as a useful material and source for the legal community.
Aladdin Jafarov, Chairman of the Union of Judges' Associations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, said that the book "Collection of Decisions of the European Court of Human Rights on Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Stateless Persons" is a great textbook for candidates and judges: "The study of analogies, the study and consideration of various sources on law of precedent has a significant impact on the formation of the positions of candidates for judges in this field. For this reason, we believe that the presentation, which will be held today, will be distributed free of charge among judges and candidates for judges."
At the end, the published books were presented to the participants of the event.
