The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Azerbaijan James Sharp.

During the meeting, the Ombudsman briefed the guest on her activities, spoke about the fact-finding missions and special reports prepared on the destruction and loss of life during the attacks on civilian settlements by the Armenian armed forces during the 44-day Patriotic War. It was noted that despite the end of the conflict, the fact that Armenia once buried hundreds of thousands of infantries and anti-tank mines in the liberated territories and still refused to provide them with maps poses serious difficulties for IDPs to return to their native lands.

In turn, Ambassador James Sharp expressed his gratitude the Ombudsman for the warm hospitality and detailed information on the activities of the institution.

She expressed interest in cooperating with the Ombudsman's Office in the field of effective protection of human rights and promotion of the rule of law.

It was discussed some issues at the meeting.
