An online meeting held between the Bar Association and LAWASIA

An online meeting was held between the Bar Association of the Republic of Azerbaijan and LAWASIA on August 24.

Opening the event, LAWASIA President Chunghwan Choi greeted the participants and thanked Anar Baghirov for his active role in the development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the organizations, e-huquq.az reports. He also noted that the Bar Association of the Republic of Azerbaijan is the first Bar Association in the CIS and Eastern Europe to become a member of this organization.

Then Sayad Gilijov, Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Bar Association, briefed the participants on the history, goals, activities of the Bar Association, the current situation with the pandemic in Azerbaijan, the activities of the Bar Association during Covid-19 and free legal aid provided to low-income people.

Anar Baghirov said he was ready to further develop cooperation between the Bar Association and LAWASIA and stressed the importance of LAWASIA's role in promoting the rule of law in the world.

At the same time, Mr. Steven Thiru, Vice President of LAWASIA, provided detailed information on the activities of various committees of LAWASIA, online events, and future conferences.

Finally, both Mr. Choi and Anar Baghirov spoke about the organization of future joint webinars, seminars, and conferences, and exchanged views on holding the next joint meeting in Azerbaijan.

We would like to note that LAWASIA is an association that covers the continents of the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, acts in the interests and problems of the legal profession, and is a member of judges, lawyers and legal organizations. The organization includes individuals and legal associations representing more than 45 jurisdictions.
