"Until 2018, in the courts, along with lawyers, there were also representatives, that is, they represented the citizen. Not enough attention is paid to the institution of advocacy. Every citizen who had some understanding of the law, who read the laws and thought to himself, that is, who said that he knew enough, was represented by a power of attorney and had the right to represent the citizen. In 2018, by the order of the President, the institute of advocacy was given great powers. At the same time, great care and attention was paid to this field. It is a very positive trend".

The statement was made by Jala Ahmadova, MP, member of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights.

She praised the work of the Bar Association in this field: "Anar Bagirov is very valuable lawyer, a person I respect very much. He does everything possible to develop professional lawyers in Azerbaijan. The Bar Association is very successful in this sphere".

The MP also commented on the proposal of the chairman of the Bar Association Anar Bagirov to hold a single written test exam on legal professions:"This is a very positive idea.I can not say the prosecutor's office, its specifics are a little different. They are a special legislation, a special branch. But the judiciary and advocacy are very interconnected and compatible.Just as a judge must know all fields of law, so is a lawyer. Therefore, a general test system is a good idea. It will also save people's time. Then, as Mr. Anar said, everyone can continue the remaining stages according to their specifics".
