The Chairman of the Qualification Commission of the Mediation Council to represent Azerbaijan at a prestigious international event

An international conference has started at KROK University in Kiev, Ukraine, on January 24, in accordance with the action plan of the Erasmus + MEDIATS - Mediation: Training and Society Transformation project organized by the Dutch Academy of Business with the financial support of the European Union.

The purpose of the 3-day event, which will last until January 26, is to exchange experience in the application, teaching and development of mediation between universities in the Netherlands, Spain, Latvia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and other countries, e-huquq.az reports.

On the opening day of the event, representatives of more than 10 higher education institutions spoke about the basics of mediation, research and teaching at the academic level, the benefits to society, etc. They touched upon topical issues and made practical proposals to strengthen the role of mediation in society as an alternative solution to disputes.

At the international event, Chairman of the Qualification Commission of the Mediation Council Gasim Shaliyev made a presentation on "Development of mediation in Azerbaijan" and informed the conference participants about the establishment and development stages of the mediation institute in our country.

On the second day of the conference, the rector of the Dutch Business Academy, Professor Jan van Zwieten, was awarded an Honorary Diploma by the Mediation Council for his support of Khazar University and Ganja State University in teaching mediation and coordination, and for his special contribution to the development of mediation in Azerbaijan.

It should be noted that two higher education institutions of our country, Khazar University and Ganja State University, participate in the MEDIATS - “Mediation: Training and Society Transformation” project. From 2020 Khazar University has begun accepting students majoring in Mediation (MBA) on the implementation of the project.
