The Mediation Council released the report

The Mediation Council has released a general report on its activities for the period from January 5 to March 31, 2022.

According to e-huquq.az, the report states that the total number of mediators who are members of the Council is 290. 217 of them are active mediators.

There are 143 mediators in Baku, 5 mediators in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and 69 mediators in other cities and regions.

As it is known, the activity of a mediator is regulated by the Law on Mediation. A mediator is liable for violation of his obligations under the articles 12.2 and 12.3 of this Law. The information on mediator’s disciplinary action shall be included into the register of mediation and kept for 6 months from the date of inclusion.

The following disciplinary actions shall be taken about mediator depending on the severity of the violation:

warning;

reprimand;

suspension of the right of operating as a mediator for a period from 1 to 6 months.

According to the report, 37 mediators were brought to disciplinary responsibility during this period.

7 of them were suspended for 6 months, 9 mediators were reprimanded, disciplinary proceedings were terminated due to the absence of violations in the actions of 8 mediators, and disciplinary proceedings are underway in 13 cases.

From January 5 to March 31, 2022, the Mediation Council and mediation organizations received a total of 9,324 appeals. Of these, 8,084 are family disputes, 897 are commercial disputes, and 343 are labor disputes.
