A wide-ranging meeting was held with the participation of the Board of the Mediation Council, Disciplinary and Qualification Commissions, the Special Commission, heads of mediation organizations and mediators to regulate relations between mediators in accordance with the requirements of the law.

At the meeting, Chairman of the Board of the Mediation Council Nadir Adilov made a special presentation on the problems arising in the legal and procedural relations between mediation organizations and mediators, e-huquq.az reports.

He said that as a result of the analysis of the survey, which was prepared on the basis of the responses of 80 mediators, it was possible to identify many problems: “There is a serious need to take measures to regulate quality and results-oriented mediation processes. Strict adherence to the requirements of the “Law on Mediation” is a priority. Mediation organizations have a great responsibility and must submit proposals to the Mediation Council as soon as possible, including the regulation of relations with mediators on a transparent basis."

N. Adilov said that the Mediation Council is interested in applying international experience: “The Mediation Council and mediation organizations receive free advice from “Equita” company on the evaluation of mediators' activities, the application of international standards for their transparent and results-oriented activities. We also cooperate with this company in order to meet the requirements of the International Organization for Standardization and learn best practices in this field, and we try to apply international standards in our activities."

Speaking about international standardization, Ilgar Mehti, CEO of “Equita” company, who participated in the meeting as an expert, said that the standard is available to facilitate and strengthen control over work and cooperation within the enterprise in order to reduce potential risks: “Getting that certificate is a proof of ethical business and reliability in relation to international companies. An established organization should establish a compliance policy based on appropriate governance systems to encourage the fulfillment of its legal obligations and increase its commitment to ethical values. Anti-bribery policy is an important element of law enforcement policy.

Supporting transparent and good governance prevents illegal costs, risks and losses, increases confidence in business relationships, and prevents damage to economic and business reputation. It is important for a well-governed organization to have a policy of compliance with laws supported by the appropriate management system to ensure its commitment to its legal obligations and ethical values. Supporting anti-bribery management policies helps an organization prevent or reduce costs, risks, and losses, as well as maintain trust and confidence in business relationships and increase an organization's business reputation. I would like to note that “Equita” is the first and only consulting company in the CIS to have received ISO 37001 certification to date as a consultant on anti-bribery management systems. “Equita” is an accredited audit partner of the international certification organization and can assist the Mediation Council and all member organizations of the Council, regardless of their size, in preparing for the ISO 37001 certification process."
