A webinar on "Organization of work with families affected by domestic violence and mediation processes" was held

On the occasion of the International Human Rights Day, a webinar on "Organization of work with families affected by domestic violence and mediation processes" was held for mediators on 10 December .

According to e-huquq.az, the meeting was attended by Nadir Adilov, Chairman of the Board of the Mediation Council, Jeyran Rahmatullayeva, Chief of Staff of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children, Major Elshad Hajiyev, Chief of the Media and Public Relations Department of the Interior Ministry, Vugar Salmanov, Head of the Child Protection Department of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Azerbaijan, and other officials.

Speakers stressed the need to pay more attention to families facing violence in the mediation process. At the same time, the importance of maintaining confidentiality between the parties applying to the media was emphasized. It was said that it will increase people's confidence in the media.

The issue of providing free mediation services to low-income families affected by domestic violence was also discussed. It was noted that discussions are underway and relevant steps will be taken next year.
It was also noted at the event that victims of domestic violence could use the assistance of police officers in the mediation process. At the same time, the safety issues of mediators were touched upon and steps to be taken in this field were discussed.

In conclusion, it was noted that the Mediation Council's close cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Committee for Family, Women and Children and other agencies will contribute to a more flexible solution of problems in the field of mediation.

The webinar was organized by the Mediation Council in partnership with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Committee for Family, Women and Children and UNICEF.

Taking into account the sensitivity and urgency of the issue, the Mediation Council plans to hold regular meetings with these institutions.
